hello again
more than just lunch
This newsletter used to be called “what’s for lunch” but the truth is I’ve been having pretty much the same thing every weekday (NUGGS with spinach and arugula and a smoothie, because convenience and efficiency). So “what’s for lunch” is a less relevant question than it was earlier in the pandemic when I felt like I had no control over my life and lunch was an opportunity to express myself.
But I’ve eaten more than just spinach and NUGGS in this letter’s hiatus. Some highlights are when I made lasagna from scratch on New Year’s Eve, rediscovered my love for Berkshire sausages, and bought an 8” iron crepe pan that looks like this one.
And of course I’ve done more than just eat. I went to London (and ate Indian food), blogged about said love for Berkshire sausages, and finally developed enough grip strength to hold a knife & pan properly.
Now this newsletter is Yokidoki. Tokidoki means sometimes, dokidoki is onomonopaea for heartbeat, doki means time, and Yoko is me. If you were to throw that word salad into a translator you might get “Yoko heart time”, or “Yoko sometimes”, which is how frequently you’ll hear from me. Yokidoki is also a nickname of mine which I despised when I was younger but I guess I don’t mind so much anymore. Hello nice to meet you! See you again soon.
PS - I enjoyed revisiting these earlier posts, maybe you will too:
